Caption: Flax. Time-exposure image of flowering flax plants (Linum usitatissimum) blowing in the wind. The plant fibres of this versatile temperate crop are made into linen fabric and linoleum. The seeds, linseed, are pressed to obtain linseed oil, which is used in paints and varnishes. The rest of the seed is used as an animal feed. Flax flowers over a long period in the summer.
