Caption: Peanut harvest. Peanut plants (Arachis hypogaea) being turned over by a tractor and inverter tool. The peanut or ground nut is a vine, the pods of which ripen underground. The plants are inverted before harvesting so that the pods dry out. Each pod contains two nuts (seeds). Peanuts are grown for human food, animal fodder, and for their oil. Photographed in Mississippi, USA.
