It is an important cereal and can be ground into flour for use in baked goods. It has the advantage of being naturally gluten free, so it can be used in products for people who are gluten intolerant. Sorghum is an important animal food crop and can be processed into ethanol for fuel. In addition, it has been used to manufacture chipboard for walls and biodegradable packaging.
