Caption: Cotton harvesting. Mechanised harvesting of cotton plants (Gossypium sp.), a crop grown for its fibres, which are woven into textiles. The white fibres, known as lint, are seed hairs contained within a seed capsule or boll. This mechanical harvester is a five-row picker, which remove bolls from five rows of cotton plants at a time. The lint is stored in hoppers to be transported from the field. Photographed in Mississippi, USA.
