Istanbul. SPOT satellite image of Istanbul, Turkey. The city sits on either side of the Bosporus, the waterway linking the Black Sea (top) to the Sea of Marmara (bottom). Two bridges may be seen across the Bosporus, linking the districts of Beyoglu and Stamboul on the west bank with Scutari and Chalkedon on the east bank. A group of islands called Kizil Adalar is at lower right, and Istanbul's airport may be seen near the coast toward lower left. Numerous ships may be seen, particularly in the southern approaches to the Bosporus. SPOT is a French Earth observation satellite.
