Caption: Brasilia. Infrared satellite image of Brasilia (at centre), the capital city of Brazil. North is at top. In this infrared image buildings are light blue, water, such as the lakes to the north and east, is blue/black, areas of bare ground are green/grey, vegetation is red and trees are brown. Smoke from a fire (white) is visible within the large area of forest to the north. Tributaries filled with vegetation are the source of the lakes' water. Brasilia is the political and administrative centre of Brazil. Image taken by a French SPOT satellite in August. The smallest visible image is 20 metres across.
