Caption: Lisbon. True-colour satellite image of the port of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. North is at top. Vegetation appears green, bare ground brown/grey, water blue/black and buildings light blue/grey. Airports can be seen at centre right and centre. Fields and irrigation circles can be seen to the North-east. Lisbon lies on the north bank of the River Tagus (Tejo), where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. Light coloured sediment can be seen in the river. Lisbon is the industrial and commercial centre of Portugal. Image taken by a French SPOT satellite in July. The smallest visible image is 20 metres across.
