Caption: Ryongchon, North Korea. Image 1 of 2. Satellite image of the town of Ryongchon in northwest North Korea. The town is surrounded by agricultural land. A railway runs from top left to bottom centre, a road runs parallel to the railway through the centre of the town, and a canal is at upper right. An explosion, caused by power lines falling on train wagons carrying oil and chemicals, killed at least 161 people in Ryongchon on 22 April 2004. For an image of Ryongchon after the explosion, see E780/894. The data for this 0. 6-metre-resolution image were obtained by the QuickBird-2 satellite on 13 May 2003.
