Caption: Jerusalem. Satellite image of Jerusalem, capital city of Israel. North is at top. Jerusalem is split into Old and New parts. The Old City is a walled rectangle shape, seen in the lower right of the image, and is divided into four quarters. The north-east section is the Moslem quarter, north- west is the Christian Quarter, south-east is the Armenian Quarter and south-west is the Jewish Quarter. This image was taken on 24 December 2001 by the Ikonos satellite, the first commercial satellite to collect data at one-metre resolution. Image size 5x5 kilometres.
