It is on a 1000 metre high plateau, an area of highland with the Represa Santa Maria Lake to the north and the Paranoa Lake to the east. With a population of around 2.3 million (2005), Brazilia is the capital of Brazil and is famous for its urban planning and architecture. Photographed on 6th September 2001.
