Caption: Iraqi oil fire, International Space Station (ISS) image. A day earlier an oil pipeline had ruptured and set on fire, producing the billowing black smoke seen here. This image is centred on Iraq's only oil terminal in the Persian Gulf, on the delta of the Shatt al Arab river. Towards the top (south west) two white areas indicate salt evaporator operations. To the lower right (north) wetlands and irrigated agricultural land are visible.
