Caption: Orchid flower (Diuris palustris). The central part of the flower (centre) is surrounded by long and distinctively shaped petals and sepals. The paired downwards-pointing sepals (lower centre) explain the common name for the Diuris orchids of double- tail orchids. This orchid is a terrestrial orchid (it grows in the ground). It is from Australia. There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
