Caption: Orchid flower (Epipactis veratrifolia). The white- tipped petal is a specialised structure called the lip. It attracts pollinators to the flower and provides them with somewhere to land. This orchid, also known as the eastern marsh helleborine, is found only in Turkey and the surrounding areas. It is a terrestrial orchid (one that grows in the ground). There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
