Caption: Orchid flowers (Gastrochillus bellinus). The two flowers at centre are most fully opened, showing their frilled, white lip with pink spots on the upper side. The lip is a specialised petal that attracts pollinators to the flowers. This orchid is found in South-East Asia. It is an epiphytic orchid (one that grows in trees). There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
