Caption: Beach litter from a storm. Large amounts of litter is deposited on beaches during storms. Some of the objects can be dangerous and need to be disposed of with care. Other objects, such as those made of plastic, take a long time to degrade naturally and can damage the environment. The litter was brought here by a storm surge in which high winds combined with high tides to produce extreme conditions. The storm, rated Force 11, took place in October 2004. Photographed in St Loy's Cove, Cornwall, UK.
