Caption: Air pollution analysis of a leaf of a holm oak (Quercus ilex). A square of leaf has been cut out and the sample placed in a PMC MicroMag 2900. This device allows the mineralogy of air pollutant particles to be ascertained, as well as revealing the range of particle sizes. This study was part of research into levels of air pollution in Rome, Italy. Holm oak trees are grown extensively throughout the city, making them ideal for this purpose.
