Caption: Orchid flowers (Liparis viridiflora). Several tiny unopened flowers are branching off from a central stem, forming a raceme (a type of flower cluster). This orchid is found all over tropical Asia and the Indo-Pacific and Pacific islands. It grows both in trees and on the ground. There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
