Caption: Hybrid orchid flowers (Masdevallia 'Doris'). This orchid is a cross between two Masdevallia species: Masdevallia triangularis x Masdevallia racemosa. The Masdevallia orchids are mostly from tropical mountain regions of South America. These flowers are dominated by their pointed sepals. There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which (both natural and hybridised) are grown as ornamental flowers.
