Caption: Orchid flowers (Masdevallia notosibirica), seen from the side. The tube-shaped flowers are formed from fused sepals. A small opening at the end of the flower allows access for pollination. This orchid grows in the mountains forest of Peru on the northern slope of the Andes mountains. There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
