Caption: Ancient Egyptian engineering. Ancient Egyptian artwork depicting an engineering feat. Here, 172 men are transporting a 60 tonne alabaster statue of Djehutihotep, a nobleman who lived around 2000 BC. The statue is being pulled on a sledge which is being continuously lubricated. Weights of up to 200 tonnes were moved in this way. The scene is from an inscription on Djehutihotep's tomb.
