Caption: Orchid flowers (Scaphosepalum ochthodes), seen from the side. This orchid produces upside-down flowers. The upper pair of sepals are fused and form the hooded part of the flower. Inside are the petals and reproductive parts. The Scaphosepalum orchids grow on trees in cloud forests in the tropical Americas. There are more than 30,000 species of orchids worldwide, many of which are grown as ornamental flowers.
