Caption: Comet orchid (Angraecum sesquipedale) also known as the Madagascar Star or Darwin orchid. This species of orchid was discovered by Darwin during his journey on the HMS Beagle. The nectar tubes of the orchid can measure up to 30 centimetres long. The orchid attracts the hawk moth Xanthopan morganii praedicta which has a proboscis 30 centimetres long used to feed on and pollinate the flower.
