Caption: Field of flowering Johnny go to bed at midday plants, seen here before the flower closes at midday. It is a member of the daisy family (Bellis), which belongs to the larger grouping called the composite family or Compositae. A characteristic of this family are the flowers, which have a colourful surround of bracts within which the real flowers of a much smaller size are hidden. Also typical are the seeds which are parachute-like to aid in wind dispersal.
