Caption: Daisy bud (1st of 5 images). Close-up of the flower bud of the ox-eye daisy, Leucanthemum vulgare (or Chrysanthemum leucanthemum). The bud contains many tiny flowers called florets enclosed in protective bracts (green). The ox-eye daisy is a medium sized perennial plant which grows in grassy places and flowers between May and September. See photos B539/025-029 for the sequence of flower opening.
