This image is part of the sequence Flowers: Head of an Ox-eye Daisy flower opening
This image is part of the feature Flowers Of The Field

Caption: Daisy flower head (4th of 5 images). Close-up of the flower head of the ox-eye daisy, Leucanthemum vulgare (or Chrysanthemum leucanthemum), seen from below. The bracts (green, at centre) enclosed the tiny flowers, or florets, of the flower head when they were in the bud. Here the sterile white ray florets can be seen. The ox-eye daisy is a medium sized perennial plant which grows in grassy places and flowers between May and September. See photos B539/025-029 for the sequence of flower opening.
