Caption: Wild garlic & bluebells. View of flowering wild garlic (white) or ramsons (Allium ursinum) growing in a beech (Fagus sylvatica) wood in the spring. Also visible are bluebells (blue, Endymion non-scriptus). Wild garlic, a member of the lily family, is also known as bear paw garlic. It has been found to have many of the medicinal benefits of common garlic (Allium sativum). It is found in areas of damp woodland all over Europe and it is known to flourish on hillsides. Bluebells , a member of the lily family, are common to undisturbed green woodland, scrubs and hedges. Photographed in Northumberland, England.
