Caption: Snake's head fritillary (Fritillaria meleagris). This plant grows on well-drained, moist soil in meadows and pastures in the southern and eastern counties of Great Britain. It is rare, and is only found in undisturbed, diverse habitats. It flowers between April and May and may reach a height of around 30 centimetres.
