Caption: Genetically modified maize. Field of transgenic Roundup Ready maize (Zea mays) being irrigated. This corn has been genetically engineered to contain a gene that makes it resistant to the herbicide Roundup, which is produced by Monsanto. Therefore, a field of the crop can be sprayed with the herbicide and only weeds will be harmed. This theoretically increases crop yield. Photographed in Toulon, France.
