Immunological research. Scientists use an automated immunochemical analyser in a laboratory. Immunochemistry is the study of antigens and antibodies, and how they react to each other. Antigens are the proteins on the surface of cells which identify which organism it is from. Antibodies are proteins that the body produces to neutralise or destroy foreign antigens from invading bacteria or viruses.
