Editorial use only.

Soybean oil for use in ink. Typically, ink is produced from pigments and a petroleum solvent (right). However, oil from a non-food soybean source (left) is lighter in colour, meaning ink can be produced in brighter hues. It is environmentally friendly as soybeans are inexpensive to grow and need little watering. The ink can be easily removed from paper, thus aiding the recycling process. This research was performed for the United States Department of Agriculture.
