Caption: Cancer immunotherapy: false-colour scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of two lymphokine- activated killer (LAK) cells. Upon activation by Interleukin-2 (IL-2) natural killer (NK) cells have displayed anti-cancer activity in laboratory conditions. IL-2 is released naturally by the immune system following activation by cancer cells. In LAK immunotherapy, a patient's white blood cells are removed & cultured with IL-2 to allow LAK cells to develop. The product, when reintroduced into the patient, has resulted in a significant reduction in tumour size in some patients with certain types of cancer. Mag: x6700 at 5x7inch, x2800 at 6x7cm size.
