Caption: Fire detector researcher. Marc Thuillard, fire detector researcher, holding a circuit board containing his sensor by flames. Thuillard has helped design a sensor which can distinguish between potentially dangerous fires and false alarms such as flashing lights and candles. The sensor measures fluctuations in heat and smoke density, and uses "fuzzy logic" to determine whether or not it is an uncontrolled fire. These sensors have been used in the AlgoRex system. Thuillard works for Cerberus, part of Siemens AG, based in Switzerland.
