Caption: Digitised fingerprint records: hand-held digitiser (scanner) used to convert old paper copies of criminals' fingerprint records onto a computer system. The system permits detailed comparison & possible matching of records taken from a scene of the crime with existing records on file. For example, a "split window" function allows two fingerprints to be displayed side-by- side for detailed analysis.
