Sergey Vladimirovich Ilyushin (left, 1894-1977), Soviet aviation engineer, and Vladimir Konstantinovich Kokkinaki (right, 1904-1985), Soviet test pilot, talking at a desk in front of a poster showing an aircraft design. Ilyushin led the famous aircraft design bureau that is named after him. Kokkinaki was the bureau's chief test pilot, setting numerous world records between 1935 and 1960. Both men received numerous decorations for their work, including Hero of Socialist Labour (Ilyushin), Hero of the Soviet Union (Kokkinaki) and multiple awards of the Order of Lenin.
