Caption: Aristotle studying in his youth. The Ancient Greek philosopher and naturalist Aristotle (384-322 BC) influenced many later thinkers, working in areas such as logic, astronomy, zoology, embryology and physics. He grew up in Macedon, and then, from the age of 18, spent nearly 20 years at Plato's Academy in Athens. Artwork, after a painting by Bezard, from the 19th century book Vies des Savants Illustres.
