Caption: Ivan Beritashvili (1885-1974), Soviet physiologist, writing notes in his laboratory. Beritashvili founded physiology research in Georgia, and was a Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences. His most important contribution to physiology was the discovery of the mediation of animal psychoneural behaviour by image-driven memory. Photographed in 1965, in Georgia.
