Caption: Louis-Jean-Marie Daubenton (1716-1800), French naturalist. Daubenton worked with Buffon on his grand treatise of natural history, providing anatomical descriptions of quadrupeds. He also studied botany, mineralogy, comparative anatomy and experimental agriculture. Engraving from Vies des Savants Illustres (1875).
