Caption: Michel Goedert, neuroscientist. Goedert is a researcher at the MRC (Medical Research Council) Molecular Biology laboratory in Cambridge, UK and became Joint Head of the Neurobiology Division in 2003. He specialises in investigating the causes of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. His main research lies in looking at the abnormal clustering of protein filaments inside the nerve cells, a distinctive feature in these disorders. The computer in front of Goedert shows a micrograph of the aggregating amyloid protein filaments found in Alzheimer's disease.
