Caption: Walter Haut. Walter Haut (aged 75 in 1997), who was public information officer at Roswell Army Air Field when the Roswell UFO incident occurred. Lt. Haut wrote the article announcing the capture of a flying saucer which appeared in the Roswell Daily Record on 8 July 1947. Shortly after, the military withdrew this press release. He is standing near Hangar 84 where UFO crash wreckage & alien bodies where allegedly brought. The Roswell incident began on 2 July 1947 when UFO sightings were reported during a thunderstorm. Next morning a rancher, Mac Brazel, discovered strange wreckage in a field. The military claimed a weather balloon had crashed but others believe aliens had arrived.
