Caption: Sir Frederick Gowland Hopkins (1861-1947), British biochemist and Nobel laureate. Hopkins was knighted in 1925. Hopkins shared the 1929 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine with Christiaan Eijkman. The share of the Nobel was awarded for Hopkins's discovery of the growth-stimulating vitamins.
