Caption: Bernardo Alberto Houssay (1887-1971), Argentine physiologist and Nobel laureate. His parents were French immigrants. Houssay shared the 1947 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Carl Ferdinand Cori and Gerty Theresa Cori. The share of the Nobel was awarded for Houssay's work on how pituitary hormones control sugar metabolism.
