Caption: Roger Sommer (1877-1965), French aviator, in a Farman biplane. Sommer flew his Farman biplane at the Spa-Malchamps aerodrome in September and October 1909, and received his French flying license in 1910. He developed a career in aircraft design, and an early plane, the Sommerplane, is named after him. Photograph from the Bain News Service.
