Caption: Nikolay Nikolayevich Semyonov (1896-1986), Soviet physicist and chemist. Semyonov was awarded the 1956 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on chemical kinetics and chain reactions. He was a member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and Director of its Chemical Physics Institute. He was made a Hero of Socialist Labour, and received multiple Orders of Lenin. Photographed in 1982, in Moscow, Russia.
