Caption: Portrait of the German-American rocket scientist Dr. Wernher von Braun (1912-1977), seen here at the Apollo-6 countdown. He was one of the leading figures in the development of rocket technology in Nazi Germany. After World War II, he and some members of his team, were taken to the United States and he was the chief architect of the Saturn V launch vehicle that propelled the Apollo spacecraft to the Moon.
