Caption: Julius Wess (born 1934), Austrian theoretical physicist at CERN (the European particle physics laboratory) near Geneva, Switzerland. Wess studied for his PhD in Vienna. In the 1970s, while at CERN, Wess, together with Bruno Zumino, developed the theory of supersymmetry. Together they devised the Wess-Zumino model of supersymmetry.
