Caption: The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) consists of three spacecraft orbiting the sun in a triangular configuration. The LISA mission will study the mergers of supermassive black holes, test Einstein's theory of general relativity, probe the early universe, and search for gravitational waves. As these passing waves ripple space and time, they will alter the laser beams shining between the spacecraft, offering a different perspective on the Universe. LISA is scheduled for launch in 2015.
