Caption: Snake's head fritillary (Fritillaria meleagris). This perennial plant is native to Europe, where it is found growing in woodlands and meadows. It is a popular garden flower due to its unusual purple- and-white checked drooping flowers, which grow up to 25 centimetres tall. The snake's head fritillary flowers between April and May.
