Caption: Narrowleaf plantain (Plantago lanceolata). This perennial weed produces white flowers clustered on spikes. It can grow to 50 centimetres tall. Narrowleaf plantain is used in herbal medicine as an astringent and an anti-inflammatory. A tea is also made from its leaves to treat diarrhoea.
