Caption: Forest trees are silhouetted against snow-clad Mt. Rainier in Washington state. Mt. Rainier is an active 4,392 meter-high composite volcano of the Cascade Range similar to Mt. St. Helens, and is situated approximately 100 km southeast of Seattle. While there is no evidence of an imminent eruption, one would be devastating and nearby cities and towns are in a state of readiness, having made a number of safety precautions and evacuation plans.
