Caption: Sweet pea flowers (Lathyrus odoratus). The plant is known for having flowers of different colours on the same plant, in this case red and purple. It is a sweet-smelling plant that flowers in early summer. It is a climber, and can reach over two metres in height. Several tendrils are seen at the centre. When these make contact with a surface, they twine around it, anchoring the plant for further growth.
